John Conroy Has Received Three Regulatory Sanctions

Publicly available records provided by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and accessed on August 23, 2017 indicate that New York-based Andrew Garrett Inc. broker/adviser John Conroy has received several customer disputes. John Conroy has spent 18 years in the securities industry and has been registered with Andrew Garrett in New York, New York since 2008. Previous registrations include New Castle Financial Services in Melville, New York; the Concord Equity Group in Iselin, New Jersey; Benson York Group in Melville, New York; and Milestone Group Management in Lake Success, New York. He is a registered broker and investment adviser with 45 US states and territories.

According to his BrokerCheck report, he has received three regulatory sanctions, four customer complaints, and one pending customer complaint.

In May 2017 a customer alleged John Conroy, while employed at Andrew Garrett, executed unauthorized transactions. The customer is seeking more than $99,700 in damages in the pending complaint.

In 2011 the New Jersey Bureau of Securities sanctioned him following allegations he “failed to comply with the terms of a supervisory agreement” when he “received commissions from activity in New Jersey client accounts, even though this practice was explicitly prohibited by his agreements.” He was issued a fine of $5,000.

In 2007 FINRA sanctioned him following allegations that “acting on behalf of his member firm, [he] failed to establish, maintain and enforce taping procedures for supervision of the telemarketing activities of all of its registered persons” and additionally “transferred more than 25% of its assets or brokerage business to another member firm without filing an application for such transfer.” He was issued a fine of $20,000 and a 60-day suspension from association with any FINRA member in a principal capacity.

In 2007 a customer alleged John Conroy, in his capacity as control person at Benson York Group, churned the account. The complaint resulted in an award to the customer of $320,000.
